Olivia’s Halloween playroom reveal! This was our first time decorating the playroom for a holiday. If you’re new here, Olivia loves Halloween and all of the spooky things. I knew I had to surprise her with a Halloween playroom makeover! Jeff and I spent a few hours putting decorations up after she went to bed. It was a lot of work but oh my gourd, I’m in love with the boo-tiful results!
I’ve been hanging onto all of the balloon garlands from Olivia’s barnyard birthday. I used one for her playhouse and then this huge one was perfect for anchoring the playroom and decorating around it. We tried a few different ways of hanging this large balloon garland on the wall and found that the most effective way is using these clear command hooks. Then we used rubber bands to secure the balloons to the hooks – worked like a charm!
Next, we put up five witches hats. I bought a set of 12 so the other seven will go out on our front porch. The set comes with a fishing line that you can push through the hats with your hands. Tie a knot at the tip of the witch hat and then cut the fishing line to the appropriate size and create another small knot to hook to the command hooks. These command hooks were seriously the MVP!
Once the two main decor pieces were up, I cleaned up the playroom area and styled it with some fun Halloween decor like a skull, faux berry branches, velvet pumpkins, and hairy spiders. The trick is to vary your decor pieces in size, height, and textures.
I felt like something was missing on the wall so I quickly made this Happy Halloween sign with my Cricut. This was already a template in Cricut Design Space so all I did was cut out the design on pink cardstock and weaved the letters on twine. Super easy and perfect for filling the wall space!
Finally, I had to bring Olivia’s best friend, Mr. Bones, in here with another identical skeleton. When we surprised Olivia with this Halloween playroom makeover, she was so happy and said “Two Mr. Bones?!” with the biggest smile on her face.
Even though it took more time to decorate than I expected, the end result and seeing how exciting Olivia was completely worth it! I love experimenting and adding some Halloween flair to different rooms every year. I linked everything below!
