Oink, cluck, moo, Olivia just turned two! Over the weekend, we hosted a big barn birthday party for our little farm girl! I picked a barn theme because Olivia currently loves animals. I had everything from a petting zoo to delicious BBQ food! I’ll share all of the DIY projects we did and the vendors we hired for this epic barnyard bash!

Welcome Sign
To welcome our guests, I repurposed this wooden sign from last year’s party. I cut out removable vinyl with my Cricut machine to say “Howdy! Welcome to Olivia’s 2nd barnyard bash.” I leaned the sign against a couple of hay bales in our DIY white wagon and tied cow balloons at two opposite corners of the welcome sign. It really set the barn theme for the party!

Barn Birthday Backdrop
The decor highlight of this party was definitely the pink barn backdrop. Melissa from Bibas Events made the cute barn herself as well as the balloon garlands with a touch of cow print balloons. The set up also included the number 2 light-up sign!

For the barn birthday backdrop, we DIY’d a few things. I made the vinyl decal that says “Olivia’s Barn” using my Cricut. We also repurposed these mini fences, which were used to keep the fur babies away from some bushes and have been stored away in a corner of our backyard. I thought it would be perfect to paint them white using leftover paint from the playhouse makeover, and then cut up the mini fences into thirds to use as barn decor. We got hay bales from Michaels and they definitely added to the barn theme!

Barn Birthday Food Menu
To stay on theme, we catered from Smokin’ Pete’s BBQ! Here’s what was on the menu: brisket, pork ribs, BBQ chicken, mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and cornbread. The food was really tasty!
We supplemented the catering with a Costco run that included caesar salad, baked beans, potato salad, corn dogs, watermelon, and brownies. It was quite the feast! Our guests went home with tons of food too.

Dessert Table
For dessert, Trophy Cupcakes made us this adorable custom pink barn cake with coordinating gingham and barn animal cupcakes. They were Yumfetti and chocolate flavors while the macarons were strawberry cheesecake – all decadent and delicious! For custom orders, I share with Trophy my inspiration/mood board and they always nail the theme!
To display the dessert, I brought out my desk and turned it around so you wouldn’t see the desk drawer handles. I thought it was a great way to showcase the desserts. I also used a bunch of different-sized cupcake and cake stands. Then I made a sign that says “two is sweet, please take a treat!”

Barn Birthday Table Decor
We have several six-foot folding tables so I got disposable pink gingham tablecloths. I love how they fit the theme and were easy to clean up. I also ordered 115 bulk flowers from Costco.com for $100 – free shipping is included and you can select the delivery date! I arranged the flowers myself a few nights before. We also rented white folding chairs from All Things Decorations – you can’t beat their price of $2 per chair!

White Bounce House
There aren’t that many white bounce house rentals in Seattle so I love that I can always rely on Linda. She has a couple of options in different sizes but the 10’x10′ is perfect for Olivia and her toddler friends. Bibas Event made a large balloon garland for it and I made the “Party Animals” sign using this vinyl. The bounce house is always a hit with the kids and it helps burn their endless energy – every parent’s dream lol.

Petting Zoo
You can’t have a barn theme birthday party without a petting zoo, can you?! This was my favorite detail and the kids absolutely loved it. We hired Old McDebbie’s Farm who brought in goats, a bunny named Yoda, a tortoise, a wallaby, ducks, a guinea pig, baby chicks, and baby quail. The kids (and adults too) took turns holding and petting the animals. Olivia was super sweet with Yoda while the goats were freely roaming around our yard eating our grass lol.

Adopt a Farm Animal Party Favors
Using our playhouse as a backdrop, I created an adopt a farm animal station with stuffed farm animals from Manhattan Toy. Their stuffed animals are super cute and soft – we had bunnies, horses, corgis, and lamb. Manhattan Toy also has adorable stuffed chickens and pigs but they were sold out during Olivia’s party. I made name tags and even adoption certificates for the animals with my Cricut – it was such a fun party favor for the kids!

Holy cow, I still can’t believe I officially have a two year old. We partied til the cows came home and had a great time. This barnyard bash was a labor of love but it’s all worth it when we saw how fun Olivia and our guests had. What was your favorite detail of this barn theme birthday party?
