Around this time last year, I surprised a sweet kindergarten teacher with a major rainbow classroom makeover! My friend, who is the principal at the school, helped me plan for it because I didn’t know anything about bulletin boards, student art displays, and classroom doors. I crafted like crazy and bought a ton of teacher supplies to make a rainbow-themed classroom makeover come to life. Let’s see how this classroom turned out!

Classroom Door
The classroom door is the main door that students come through every day so it’s important to make it welcoming. A lot of classroom doors display student names on them so you know who’s in what class.
I decorated the classroom door with pastel vinyl signs that say “Hello” and “We are a Rainbow of Possibilities.” Then I used Cricut sticker cardstock to create an array of rainbow labels that each student could write on. The sticker cardstock is truly a game changer and I used it throughout this rainbow classroom makeover!

Student Art Display
At the entrance is also the student art display where students can show off their best work. For this section, I used this pretty blush bulletin board and got coordinating rainbow border trim to frame it. The gold clips are actually wall pins and can clip student artwork (as well as rainbow paper as seen below)! Then I used sticker cardstock to make the sign “Our Work Shines” and the pastel stars. I would say this was a piece of art 😉

Teacher’s Desk in a Rainbow Classroom
This sweet teacher just got married that summer so I thought it would be meaningful to create a banner sign with her new last name. Plus, I surprised her with a brand new Cricut Explorer 3 and lots of Cricut supplies to help her craft anything for her classroom throughout the school year!

Bulletin Boards
I only learned what bulletin boards were after doing this surprise rainbow classroom makeover project. Essentially, they’re learning tools that display information and lessons visually. For a kindergarten class, I bought pre-made bulletin boards for calendars, classroom jobs, birthdays, and the alphabet – all rainbow themed of course! Each bulletin board was finished off with a colorful scallop or rainbow trim.

Reading Nook
The teacher had a shelf full of books so I wanted to turn one of the corners into a cozy reading nook. I bought this adorable teepee tent and put throw pillows in it to make it really comfy. I made vinyl signs that say “This is My Happy Place” and “Just One More Chapter.” I also repurposed this huge balloon garland from Olivia’s boba birthday party and thought it would be a special surprise for students and parents who were coming in the following week to meet the teacher!

Rainbow Classroom Decor
If you know me, I love puns and cheesy sayings. So throughout the classroom, I decorated the room with colorful rainbow signs and sayings. I love this mirror that says “Be Yourself, You’re Amazing.” I used my secret weapon – sticker cardstock again – and it was so easy to peel and stick on the mirror!

Using vinyl, I made a sign that says “Follow Your Rainbow” with a bunch of stars and rainbow decals. I love that it’s front and center right under the whiteboard and has such an encouraging message to students!

To make these beautiful colorful butterflies, I stuck one sticker cardstock on top of another – I learned this hack on Instagram and thought it was genius! I love how the butterflies help hide the projector’s thick black power chord.

This was an amazing classroom makeover and I was so happy to have done it for an incredible, deserving teacher! Special thank you to my husband, my brother, and my principal friend who spent 5 hours with me setting everything up in this rainbow classroom!
