When we first moved into this house, I kept saying that our small outdoor patio would be my absolute last priority. But after scoring an incredible deal on an outdoor furniture set, I was suddenly inspired to decorate and complete this space. Now we have this beautiful outdoor oasis to enjoy during the warmer months for years to come. I hope you’ll grab a lemonade and come in on for our small outdoor patio tour!

When we were house hunting, this covered small outdoor patio alone almost sold us on this house. Being in a rainy city, it’s so nice to have a covered area and fireplace to hang out on all year long. We love how the beautiful stone fireplace really warms up the area and makes it look like a normal indoor living room. This neutral artwork was an old one from Jeff’s condo. We had it in storage for a while and, one day, it just clicked that it would fit perfectly above the outdoor fireplace!

When it came to furnishing this small outdoor patio space, I casually looked around for affordable wooden pieces. Many of the furniture sets were either too expensive or it didn’t have a three seater sofa. Luckily, I walked into World Market two years ago and found this outdoor furniture set on super sale. It was the end of the season and they were trying to get rid of the floor model. The furniture set was originally $1900, went on sale for $1200, and then the store manager offered an additional 10% discount. But knowing me and how I love deals, I haggled him down another $200. So we got the entire set for $800!!! #dealsondealsondeal It couldn’t have been better timing!

Now the fun part starts. I love bringing a space to life and giving it personality with accessories. I worked with HomeGoods (it was a dream partnership!) to style and spruce up our small outdoor patio. I brought in a lot of indoor elements to the outside – like decorative pillows, a cozy throw, a huge citronella candle, and some lanterns. Your outdoor space should feel like an extension of your indoor home and just as comfortable and inviting!
An outdoor patio doesn’t feel complete without patio string lights. I really wanted mine to be white and thought that these were perfect for summer nights. They were very easy to install. We screwed these hooks into the ceiling and then hung the lights on them in a zig zag pattern.

The final touch of our small outdoor patio was filling up the huge empty space above the couch. I looked online and in stores for outdoor artwork pieces but nothing was big enough. After searching for inspiration on Pinterest, I came up with this DIY plant wall using all faux plants (since this is a covered patio, we get very little sunlight to be able to grow real plants). I love how it turned out and it ties all of the colors together. It’s also my easiest DIY project to date!

I am so excited to hang out here again this year. We love grilling and enjoying dinner al fresco while the fur babies do zoomies in the grass. Olivia will also get to enjoy this space and maybe even have a mini pool party! If you have an outdoor space that you’ve be delaying or neglecting, I highly encourage you to finish it now! It’s so worth it!

Wow! It turned out so beautifully Tina. I love how welcoming it is and I am literally drawn to your outside space. Btw, great job on haggling that furniture set down to $800! That’s a steal! We were looking at furniture sets too but gosh it’s like an arm and a leg. Seriously a highway robbery! I can’t wait for you to send me an invite to hang out in your patio! 🙂 I hope you guys are having a great weekend so far and happy Sunday!
