Jeff and I recently went on our first ever official date night since becoming parents! With the pandemic and a very active baby, we haven’t had a real date night other than long romantic walks down Target and HomeGoods aisles lol. We saw that Maximilien Seattle was doing outdoor dinners so we thought this would be a good (and safe) opportunity to get out of the house while supporting a local business in the heart of Pike Place Market. I’m sharing my igloo dining experience at Maximilien!

COVID Precautions
Before booking a reservation here, I definitely looked into their covid precautions first. Since we’ve been really cautious, I wanted to make sure that our dining experience would be safe. The biggest draw to Maximilien Seattle for me is their igloos or as they call it “Le Igloos.” Very fancy schmancy. There are a total of three set up outside on their patio, socially distanced of course. Here are their other covid precautions:
- Everyone must wear masks. We were able to take ours off once in the igloo but had to put them back on every time our waiter or any of their staff entered.
- Employees must wear masks at all times, take temperature checks before their shifts, and wash their hands often.
- Everyone in the party must be present before being seated to minimize trips through the restaurant.
- Only a maximum of five individuals and up to two different households are allowed in each igloo.
- There’s a 90 minute time limit so that they can sanitize in between reservations.

Our Dining Experience
Once we got to our igloo, the sun was just starting to set over Puget Sound and the view was absolutely breathtaking. During this pandemic, we didn’t go down to Pike Place Market or the waterfront at all, so I almost forgot how gorgeous our city is. Our igloo was the closest one to the water view so that was an unexpected bonus. If you can, I highly recommend making a reservation during sunset because it makes the experience much more magical!

This is a French restaurant so we immediately started off with bread and escargot but I was actually too scared to try it lol. For entrees, Jeff ordered the duck breast while I got the steak – both were very juicy and tasty. We ended our three course meal with a flourless chocolate cake that was so decadent and fudgey. We really enjoyed our meal and forgot how nice it is to dine at a restaurant!
The 90 minutes goes by extremely fast and the restaurant is pretty strict about enforcing the time limit. I recommend looking at the menu and knowing what you want to order in advance to make the most of your time!
Tips for Dining at Maximilien Seattle
This French restaurant is on the fancier side, but since we saved so much money staying in during the pandemic, I thought it was totally worth the splurge. I really enjoyed our igloo dining experience at Maximilien Seattle and recommend it to anyone looking for a way to get out of the house!
If you decide to make a reservation, here is a roundup of my tips on how to make the most of your igloo dining experience:
- You must make a reservation for an igloo. Aim for sunset to take advantage of the incredible views!
- Look at the menu ahead of time and order ASAP when you get there. There’s a 90 minute limit and it goes by really fast!
- Dress appropriately for the weather since there is no heater in the igloo. We went during late winter when it was starting to warm up so jeans, a sweater, and a thicker jacket did the trick.
- Each igloo requires a $150 food and beverage commitment. There’s also a $30 per person deposit due upon reservation which can be applied to your bill.
- Everyone in your party must be over 21 years of age.
- Don’t forget to capture photos of your fun and unique dining experience! I love our couple photo inside the igloo, but wish we also got an overall shot of the igloo with us inside too.
- Have fun and enjoy! With everything we’ve endured in the last year, it was really refreshing to get out and spend time together! You so deserve this!!

Wow, this looks like such a cool dining experience! I’m loving those views! I need to definitely check it out next time I’m in the city!
