Truth be told, I have never heard of duck boots until the last couple of years. I’m not sure how they became so popular recently but I’m definitely not complaining. I love it when a trend is practical yet still fashionable! So let’s take a look at how to make duck boots look cute!
Even though we’re talking about ducks here, I actually wore this winter outfit to impress the elk. On our last day at Suncadia Resort, we ventured out to see the elk feeding, which was about a 15 minute drive from the main resort area. I’ve never seen elk in a farm setting like this before. I hear that elk can be dangerous so it was cool that we could just watch them from about 200 feet away. Before this, I’ve only seen elk in zoos.
I knew that there would be a ton of snow at the farm, and it would be raining on our drive back to Seattle so it was the perfect time to try out my duck boots. Originally designed as hunting boots by LL Bean, duck boots are meant to be very functional. They’re waterproof, warm, comfortable, and versatile for both snow and rain. Here are some major tips on how to make duck boots look cute:
- Wear them with skinny jeans/pants: Skinny jeans will allow you to show off your duck boots and polish up the overall outfit. If you pair your duck boots with non-slim jeans, they’ll cover your shoes and make the look less chic.
- Pair them with socks that peek out at the top: I didn’t get to do this (since I forgot them at home), but it’s an easy way to add another layer and texture to your look. Try printed socks or these cozy ones!
- Style them with cute clothes: Since duck boots are utilitarian, it’s a good idea to wear them with chic and cozy coats, sweaters, and scarves to balance out the ruggedness of the boots. I also like styling them with pom pom beanies since they add a touch of femininity to your winter outfit!

These are all great tips, Tina! I definitely agree that skinny jeans are a must if you want to go for a more polished look, and I love having the socks peek out at the top.
