About three weekends ago, we escaped into a winter wonderland at Suncadia Resort. I’ve only heard about this beautiful place from friends and coworkers so we were excited to finally experience it ourselves. It’s only two hours east of Seattle, but you feel like you’re in a completely different world! Suncadia Resort has everything you need whether it’s for a family vacation, bachelorette party, or a romantic getaway. Check out my full review of Suncadia Resort below!
SUNCADIA LODGE
Suncadia is a huge resort with multiple lodging options like The Lodge (main, family-friendly hotel), The Inn (more private, intimate hotel), Trailhead Condominiums, and even luxury Vacation Homes that you can rent out. We stayed at The Lodge since it’s in the main resort area, central to most activities and to take advantage of the pet privileges (you know how it’s always ruff to find dog sitters)!
We stayed in a Lodge One Bedroom Suite and, boy, was it cozy! We loved that it was equipped with a full kitchen, living room, dining room, fireplace, and even a washer and dryer.
The best part of this suite was the incredible view. I mean, do you see these photos? We loved waking up early each morning to take in the breathtaking winter scene with endless snow-capped trees and the Cascade Mountains.
Our pups were totally living the life here. They loved meeting many other furry friends and playing in the snow!
SUNCADIA WINTER ACTIVITIES
Suncadia Resort encompasses over 6300 acres so there’s definitely no shortage of things to do here. There’s snowmobiling, snowshoeing, sledding, ice skating, and even cross-country skiing. Here’s a full list of all the winter activities. We tried inner tubing for the first time ever and it was so thrilling and fun! I felt like a total kid again, screaming at the top of my lungs as I was going nearly 35 miles per hour down the hill!
The most unique activity we did was definitely seeing the elk feeding. It’s a free activity at 9am and 3pm every day. You drive about 10 minutes out of the main resort area to the Nelson Dairy Farm. Then behold, about 200 feet away, you’ll see a huge herd of elk just casually eating their food. No big deal, right?
SUNCADIA RESTAURANTS
After a busy day of inner tubing and yoga at the resort, we were so ready to dig in at the Portals Restaurant located at The Lodge. We indulged on the delicious Valentine’s Day 4-course meal and enjoyed every part of it, including the excellent service! Everything was prepared to perfection from the oyster shooters and lobster bisque to the juicy, savory steak. Even though we were so full, we went to town on the decadent desserts. The food at Portals Restaurant was so delicious that we had to come back the next day for brunch! Of course, the panoramic view of the Cascade Mountains from every seat was the icing on the cake!
There are several other restaurants at Suncadia Resort and different options for everyone. It’s super convenient, hence the slight premium price, but it allows you to thoroughly enjoy your stay here without worrying about leaving the resort grounds (trust me, you’re not going to want to leave this gorgeous place anyways!). Check out the full restaurant list.
SUNCADIA SWIMMING + SPA ACTIVITIES
If you need a break from the snow activities, you can always relax at the swimming pools and hot tubs. There are even pool slides that are perfect for kids! Even better, treat yourself to a spa treatment at the Glade Spring Spa. Suncadia Resort surprised us with an awesome couple’s chocolate oil massage, which is just what we needed after having a packed itinerary. After the massage, we also got to bask in the hot and soothing outdoor mineral baths. It felt surreal to be in a pool surrounded by snow!
Overall, my first experience at Suncadia Resort was amazing and I only wish I could’ve stayed longer. I hear there are lots of things to do during the spring and summer months as well like golfing, hiking, river rafting, and fly fishing. Now that I know Suncadia is only a short drive away, I can’t wait to plan another getaway here!

I love this post! Winter resorts like this one are so amazing. I’d love to visit the Suncadia resort. 🙂
It reminds me of my favourite spa in Canada, the Nordik Spa – Ottawa. It has tons of saunas and a few mineral baths with different temperatures. You’d love that spot. The Scandinave in Canada is also one of my favourites and has mineral baths. Spa resorts are my favourite to escape to. Thanks for sharing!
