Now that I’ve shared all of the early wedding day activities (getting ready, first look, wedding party photos), let’s get into one of the best parts of the day – the wedding ceremony! I still remember it like it was yesterday. We incorporated a lot of details that were meaningful and special to us like having one of our close friends officiate, getting our three fur babies to walk down the aisle, and writing our own personal vows!

Wedding Ceremony Decor
Let’s first talk about the wedding ceremony decor. The wedding ceremony area at Rock Creek Gardens was beautiful, but it was also huge (both the pergola and the aisle) so a lot needed to be done to fill up the space. I got an aisle runner, which sadly had to be taken away because of wind, and white rose petals from Costco. My florist, Stephanie Roseanne Design, used a lot of smilax to fill up the pergola since they’re whimsical yet cost efficient. In the middle of the pergola was a concentration of gorgeous, romantic roses. The venue also provided us with white drapery and a crystal chandelier to glam up the space. And look at all of those chairs – every seat was filled up with our huge guest count of 274!
Wedding Pawty
One of my favorite wedding ceremony details was incorporating our three fur babies. They are our everything and we couldn’t imagine celebrating our union without them! Tails and Chewy were pulled down the aisle in our DIY white wagon, while my dad walked both Boba and me down the aisle. If you guys follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that Boba and my dad have the sweetest relationship. He picked her out from the litter when she was a puppy, and until this day, she still loves him so much – she even leaves me for him when he comes to visit. So I thought it would be extra special and memorable for my dad to walk his two girls down the aisle!
Wedding Ceremony Vows
After walking down the aisle and finally getting to see my groom, it was time for the most emotional parts of the wedding! It started off with our officiant sharing our love story and how far we’ve come as a couple. Our officiant is one of our close friends who supported our relationship from the beginning. He did an amazing job with very little direction from us, and surprised us with an amazing speech!
Then, here comes the waterworks when we shared our own vows. Jeff said his vows first, and there were certainly no dry eyes among the guests. He usually does not cry at all but he teared up during his entire vows, making everyone cry with him! I, on the other hand, loved adding some puns and jokes in our vows hehe. I loved how our wedding vows consisted of funny personal stories, our love for our fur babies and food, and how we will commit to each other for the rest of our lives. I think everyone really felt the love in the air! And just like that – we were officially husband and wife!
Wedding Ceremony Songs
Lastly, in case you were wondering, we also had a string trio play music while we walked down the aisle. Here is a list of our wedding ceremony songs. I looked into so many and narrowed it down to these. My favorite was our recessional Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles, which was specifically chosen as a pun on Jeff’s last name, Son!
- Prelude (wedding ceremony songs for when guests arrive/wait)
- Only Time
- At Last
- Can’t Help Falling in Love
- What a Wonderful World
- Yellow
- Endless Love
- I’ll Stand By You
- Beauty and the Beast
- Wedding Song (There is Love)
- You Raise Me Up
- Processional (wedding ceremony songs for when the wedding party walks down the aisle)
- The Ludlows (we had this song play on repeat for the entire wedding party)
- A Thousand Years (I walked down to this song!)
- Recessional (wedding ceremony song that bride and groom walk to after pronouncement as husband and wife)
- Here Comes The Sun (the perfect song for us as the Sons!)
- Postlude (wedding ceremony songs for guests as we transition to cocktail hour)
- I’m Yours (Jason Mraz)
- Love Story
- Viva La Vida (if time allows)
