Olivia just turned 10 months old, which means I have less than two months to plan her one year birthday bash! I’ve been on Pinterest non-stop to get some party inspiration. It reminded me of the beautiful farmer’s market birthday party my cousin, Mina, threw for her one year old last year. Lettuce reminisce the celebration as I share all of the details. And yes, I have a terrible habit of sharing parties a year later lol.
Strawberry Lemonade Stand
The birthday girl was turning one and her family nickname is Strawberry Lulu, which was the inspiration for the entire party. Mina wanted to have a strawberry lemonade stand for the party so her husband built one entirely from scratch. Isn’t it the cutest thing ever? Mina decorated it with lemonade banners and a letter board that said “Lulu’s lemonade 25 cents.” She added a real lemon tree in a basket and surrounded the stand with vibrant flowers. The lemonade stand wasn’t complete without actual lemonade, which she put in glass drink dispensers. She topped the lemonade off with fresh strawberries, and if you wanted more, there were extra in adorable pink berry baskets! The lemonade stand was definitely the main photo op feature and I think I need to borrow it for for Olivia’s party!

Farmer’s Market Birthday Party
What started as a strawberry lemonade theme evolved into a full on farmer’s market birthday party theme! My cousin Mina bought an abundant of fruits and veggies, including apples, bananas, oranges, peaches, onions, potatoes, lettuce and herbs. She placed them in wooden, woven and wire baskets and displayed them on tiered tables in the backyard. On the left side was a wheelbarrow full of flowers and a “one” strawberry banner sign. Her husband also DIY’d the custom farmer’s market sign and Mina used paint to personalize it with Lulu’s name. Everything was fresh, gorgeous, and colorful. At the end of the party, she gave us reusable cotton mesh grocery bags to “shop” the farmer’s market and we went home with an incredible amount of produce to enjoy for weeks!

Farm Animals
Lastly, Mina brought in a petting zoo to her backyard. She really went all out! There were bunnies, a horse, little chicks that were just hatched the day before, a tortoise and some goats. We were able to pet and feed them, and that was especially fun for the kids. I was too heavy to ride the horse, but I did get a picture with a baby chick! lol

Lulu’s farmer’s market birthday party was one for the books and we all had an amazing time! Because of the pandemic, this party was the first and only time I saw most of my extended family for a whole year, which was also the only time they saw me with a pregnant belly. Lulu is turning two this July so I’m excited to see my family again and what Mina has in store for this next birthday party!
