This is my last fall outfit of the year! I can’t believe winter is around the corner (and it already feels like winter here), but today’s look is about making a summer dress work for fall!
To be fair, this dress isn’t exactly from the summertime but if I didn’t tell you, couldn’tย this dress totally pass as a summer dress?ย I recently gotย this darkย floral dress because I thought it would be perfect for both Hawaii (I went in November) and the colder weather here in Seattle. I mostly packed summer clothes that I already owned for Hawaii, but I wanted a few new summer items. At the same time, I didn’t want it to be a one-time-wear dress so I made sure I could transition this floral number. It’s really easy to make a summer dress work for fall – simply pile on the layers and switch out those sandals for boots! I love wearing scarves and booties with dresses (example here), or in my case, a chunky cardigan with over the knee boots. Other combinations you could try are faux leather jackets with sneakers or jean jackets with flats. You can’t go wrong with any of these pairings!
This dark floral dress is from Nordstrom and is currently still in stock! If you’re looking for a slightly dressy item to bring on your warm weather vacation, definitely try out this piece. I know how difficult it is to find summer clothes during winter! For reference, this dark floral dress runs small. I would size up at least one size and possibly even two sizes. It’s such a pretty dress with the pink flowers contrasting against the navy blue. I also love the wrap style that’s so classic and stylish – I’m sure I’ll be wearing this dress next summer too! What are your favorite ways to make a summer dress work for fall?

You could absolutely wear that dress in the summer, but I do love that the darker color pallet gives it so much more versatility!

Your pink floral on navy blue Charles Henry flutter sleeve shift dress is beautiful.
The bateau neck, waist-tie, wrap appearance, colour, polyester fabric and floral print all look pretty, and it looks great styled with the contrasting long Asos chunky knit cardigan.
That’s such a cute combination of the cardigan, floral dress, and OTK boots dear! Really chic look.

The dress is gorgeous, but I love the whole outfit together. The boots and cardi are just perfect with it.
I dread the dead of winter when dresses and skirts will be out of the question. ๐
This dress looks pretty and versatile. It’s perfect for our hot and cold weather in Australia. Happy Christmas girl!

I love dark floral prints for winter because they make such a great transition piece. The pink florals pop really nice against the navy in this dress. Also, you styled it so well for winter that I would have never thought that you bought it with the intention of wearing it in Hawaii!
