I still can’t believe we got to go to the most epic location ever for fall family photos at Rockwood Farm! This farm has the most stunning tunnel of trees I’ve ever seen and it’s one of the most coveted places in Washington for fall photos. Not many people know this, but you can rent this place out for photo shoots or special occassions – I’ll share all the details in this post!
Rockwood Farm Rental Rates
Rockwood Farm is about a 45 minute drive from Seattle, WA and is gated by a tall, grand iron gate. A lot of photographers line up outside of the gate, positioning their cameras between the iron rods, to try to capture photos of the beautiful fall tree-lined driveway. The entrance gate is right off the main road, and there’s also no street parking around the area. When we arrived at the venue, I saw a bunch of cars randomly parked off the side of the road as people were trying to get a glimpse of the view.
People may not know this but you can actually go inside of Rockwood Farm by booking a reservation for engagement photos, maternity photos, fall family photos, or even a wedding! I’ve listed their rental prices below. You get the whole place to yourself (minus the residents and people who stay at the Airbnb – more about this later). My cousin is the one that had the idea to do her fall family photos at Rockwood Farm. I was just lucky that she asked me to join her!
- Weekdays: $250 for 2 hours, $100/hr for additional time
- Weekends: $275 for 2 hours, $110/hr for additional time
- The above rates cover up to four people (including your photographer). Each additional person is $20
Inside Rockwood Farm
Once we arrived at Rockwood Farm, we called the venue to open the gate for us. As we slowly drove to the parking lot, we were completely mesmerized. The driveway was covered by thousands of fallen leaves and the trees had the most vibrant red, orange, and yellow leaves. It was truly breathtaking and we felt like we were transported into a fall movie scene.
The most popular location to take fall family photos is in the middle of the driveway under the tunnel of trees. There are other beautiful spots too like along the beautiful wooden fence and by the pond surrounded by colorful trees.
The farm asked us not to cross over a specific bridge as there are residents that live on the property. They also have four cozy Airbnbs that are available for vacation stays. If you want to secure a rental during peak fall foliage, be sure to book far in advance as they sell out quickly.
Tips for Taking Fall Family Photos at Rockwood Farm
All week, the weather forecast predicted that it was going to rain pretty hard the day of our photo shoot. We kept checking the hour-by-hour forecast. On the day of, we were sooo incredibly lucky that it didn’t rain until the last 20 minutes. When it started to drizzle, we pulled out the clear umbrella and it felt like we were taking photos for a romantic series (Kdrama anyone?). Right when we got to our car, it started POURING! Talk about good timing!
All in all, we are so glad we got to experience the beauty of Rockwood Farm. It’s truly a gorgeous, magical place for fall family photos (or any occasion for that matter). I’ll leave you with some tips for taking fall family photos at Rockwood Farm!
- The best time to take photos at Rockwood Farm is the first through the third week of October for peak foliage.
- Bring a clear umbrella in case of rain – it’s also a cute prop for photos!
- To get your little one to smile, we tried tickling, running back and forth, and throwing her up in the air!
- Bring a portable changing room or book a stay at one of their Airbnbs to easily change outfits.
- The venue has a cute canoe to take photos with. You’ll need to coordinate with them to have this set up.
- Don’t forget to have fun!! Taking family fall photos can be stressful when you’re trying to get your little one(s) to behave and smile. Just remember to take a deep breathe, smile, and know it’ll be all worth it to look back on your photos one day!

Looks like the link you shared for a photography permit is private.
Is there any other way to reserve that permit?

So weird! I think they must’ve taken their entire web site down or make it private
