I can’t believe it’s been over two months since we got engaged! I feel like so much has happened since then with wedding planning. I’ll give you guys an update on how that’s going later. But first, I wanted to share the most asked questions we always get after our engagement! I remember when Jeff and I were first engaged, each person that we told would ask us the same exact questions so I thought it would be fun to share some of those answers here with you guys. Let’s walk down memory lane!
How did he propose?
Here’s our full proposal story! Long story short, he proposed at The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco during our couple’s sunset photo shoot I wanted to do. We were on a road trip from Seattle to Northern California with my parents, brother, and our three pups. The night we took photos was the only free night we had and I dragged my brother to take the photos for us. Jeff set up the camera so all my brother had to do was snap them!
Was the proposal a surprise?
Definitely. I was super surprised and had nooo idea it was coming! I honestly thought he was doing a #followmeto photo during the photo shoot so I was facing away from him while he held my hand. When I turned around and he popped the question, I was so confused, I even said, “Huh?? Are you joking?” hehe. We’ve been talking about getting married a lot, but never looked at rings. If anything, I thought it would happen maybe within a year or two.
Did you cry?
Everyone that knows me knows that I rarely ever cry. I like to call myself Stone Cold Steve Austin hehehe. But I was so shocked, confused, and moved at the same time when he proposed. I had one tear that dropped about one centimeter from my eye. That’s a lot for me! LOL!
How did he know what ring you wanted?
Like I mentioned above, we never went ring shopping. I never had a ring preference and never even thought about what I would want. To determine my style, Jeff enlisted my cousin, Mina, to get more information from me. She told me she wanted to upgrade her ring and needed to get my opinion on what looked nice. I responded, “I’m the wrong person to ask about rings.” Nonetheless, Mina shared several options from Pinterest. I was still clueless about rings, but my general feedback was basically that I liked simple, classic rings that weren’t flashy or gaudy. Jeff ended up getting me a round cut diamond, which fits my description exactly!
Did he plan the proposal?
Jeff is a huge planner, but not this time around. He brought along the engagement ring on the road trip in case there was an opportunity to propose, but nothing was set in stone. When I told him I wanted to do a couple’s sunset photo shoot at The Golden Gate Bridge, and that I wanted my brother to come with us to take the photos, he knew this was the perfect time. It’s very unlike him to be this spontaneous, but it worked out! Our friend even joked that I make him do crazy things because he’s such a planner usually. Now, we always joke about how I basically planned the proposal for him hehehe
Did he ask for your parent’s permission?
Yes, Jeff asked for my parent’s permission the morning of the proposal, not knowing that he would actually be proposing later that night. While I was showering, my parents were getting ready in their room so Jeff asked them then. It was early in the morning and my dad wasn’t even sure what Jeff was saying heheh. They both did end up giving Jeff a thumbs up!
Did you celebrate right after the proposal?
If you guys follow me on Instagram Story, you know that Jeff and I both loveeeee Domino’s pizza. We would’ve celebrated there if we could. But since there wasn’t one nearby, we went to an In-N-Out hehe. It was sooo yummy! I remember when we came back to the hotel after the engagement, I was trying to tell my mom to let’s go eat and celebrate. She was in the middle of a deep nap and she kept saying, “I’m not hungry! I’m trying to sleep.” And I’m like, “But, Mom, I just engaged!” She ignored me and kept sleeping. I went up next to her, showed her the ring and, emphasized that we were engaged. After finally realizing what I was saying, she woke up and all five of us (Jeff, my parents, my brother, and I) went to In-N-Out to indulge in animal style cheeseburgers.
When we got back from our trip, Jeff and I took an extra day off because driving 16 hours straight from Northern California to Seattle was exhausting! After some rest, we ended up going to get my ring sized, and even celebrated our engagement just the two of us at one of our favorite waterfront restaurants in Seattle! These are the photos from that day. I also got a hair cut in between as you can tell from the shorter hair in some photos! If you have any other questions about our engagement that I didn’t answer here, feel free to ask me in the comments section below!
