Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and to be honest, I didn’t have a pretty outfit post ready for it. Jeff and I don’t typically celebrate anyway because we have so much going on from December through January (Christmas, my birthday, our anniversary, Jeff’s birthday). BUT, I’ve had this red ruffle top outfit in my queue forever, and it’s just screaming casual Valentine’s Day outfit! So let’s keep this secret between me and you, and pretend I had this post planned for Valentine’s Day all along. 😉
Ok, so how adorable is this red ruffle top? It’s basically like a regular cotton t-shirt but with an ultra feminine twist. I love how the ruffles wrap from the front and all the way down to the hemline. I’m wearing it in the Red Pepper color, but if that’s too bold for you, it comes in navy stripes and a bright yellow as well. It’s the perfect top for a casual Valentine’s Day outfit, and would be great as an every day kind of top too since it’s so comfortable and looks great with jeans!
Now that you’ve got your casual Valentine’s Day outfit, how will you be celebrating? If we were to do something, we would keep it chill and simple. Valentine’s Day definitely doesn’t need to be extravagant, and I think it’s more about appreciating and spending time with each other. I thought I would share some low key Valentine’s Day date ideas that Jeff and I would do!
- Cook dinner at home: Who says dinner at home can’t be romantic? Skip the overpriced, pre-fixed menus and loud restaurants and, cook up a mean meal together at home! Set the table with candles and roses to make it extra special.
- Take out and hang out: Not into cooking or don’t want to deal with cleaning up? Get something delicious to-go and hang out at home or catch up on your favorite shows! I hear Black Mirror is really good, or ball your eyes out with This Is Us.
- Get a couple’s massage: Nothing sounds more relaxing than a couple’s massage. It’s a win-win for both of you!
- Write cards to each other: Skip the materialistic gifts and write a card to remind how much you mean to each other. It’s a great way to express yourself and say things you don’t tell one another on a daily basis. I used to never write cards to anyone until I met Jeff. Now cards are my favorite things I get from him!
Let me know which date idea would be your favorite and I hope you all have a happy Valentine’s Day!

Totally on the card train with you! We skipped gifts and going out for dinner this year and opted for just cards… but then I cheated and surprised him with a movie date night. As much as I love Valentine’s Day (wearing pink and being ridiculous… who can say no?), the material expectations associated with this day is not appealing.
Very pretty top hon and looks great with jeans- comfort and style all in one! Have a lovely Thursday hon ( :
Love the top! You look gorgeous in red!

Oh I LOVE this top – the ruffles are so perfectly placed, and perfect for V-Day (even though you don’t celebrate it haha).
Your red ruffle top is lovely. The ruffles that run across the top adds personality to an otherwise simple outfit. We didn’t do anything yesterday. My hubby works late on Wednesday and Valentine’s happen to land on it. But I did get to spend Valentine’s with my little guy and we ate a bunch of treats and watched his favorite train shows before calling it a night. I was choo choo’ out but my mini was happy so it was well worth it. Happy belated Valentine’s Tina. I hope you and Jeff had an amazing one.

This is just so stinking cute Tina! Love the ruffles and those jeans have just the right amount of distressing! And I agree – we kept it super low key this year and it was perfect!
