Classic Black Dress

Whether it’s a work holiday party or your New Year’s outfit, I found the most classic black dress that’s both stylish and timeless!

Most people find this surprising but I actually don’t own many black dresses. I’m drawn to more colorful pieces, but this dress completely caught my eye. I love the midi length that’s very classy and the flutter sleeves add a feminine touch. The fit is also super flattering. It slightly cinches at your waist and the longer length creates an elongating effect. The brand that I’m wearing is Chelsea28 from Nordstrom and the dress is unfortunately already sold out. However, I found an almost identical classic black dress here! They’re so similar to each other that you can barely notice the difference. I would recommend sizing up, especially if you’re between sizes.

I wore this dress in November to one of the shows for Eco Fashion Week, which is the world’s largest sustainable fashion event. During this event, I learned that, on average, each North American wastes about 81 pounds of textiles per year (crazy, right?!). So the runway presented ten designers, each challenged with only 8.1 lbs of clothes, to reinvent and redesign those pieces into their own runway collection. It was definitely eye-opening and awesome to see how those designers got creative! Such a great reminder to always recycle, rewear and reuse!

With this classic black dress, I can easily rewear it to many different events and occassions over and over again. I last wore it to the runway show and I’m planning to wear it again to my boyfriend’s work holiday party. It would also be perfect for the holidays, work, weddings, and any type of cocktail event!

    I’m definitely a fan of reusing and recycling! I like pieces that you can wear over and over again, and I think it’s so important to think about the impact your purchases and everyday habits have on the environment. I really is such a shame the amount of waste that takes place in the fashion industry. Yesterday, I actually stumbled on a very informative video that shared some of the facts you’ve mentioned here and it was all so shocking. It makes sense when you think about it, but how often do we? That show sounds like it was fun, especially the challenge, I’m sure the designers created such beautiful and unique looks!     Recycling, re-wearing and reusing clothes is something I should do more of. There are too many outfit pieces i’ve bought for Fbloggers OOTD posts and failed to wear again. I really should either wear them more or donate them.

    Aw I love this dress on you! It’s extremely flattering. I like the way you styled it too with the nude/pinkish accessories. I don’t own too many black dresses either, but I did just buy one the other day to wear to the ballet tomorrow! It’s so classic. I will definitely be using it as my go-to black dress from here on out. So in love, and it was on sale! THE BEST.

    I love your outfit, girl! So classy.
    On the topic of recycling/ reusing clothes, I always do. I don’t get to buy new clothes very often, so I’m a big outfit re-wearer. Also, I shop at thrift stores a lot because I can often find clothes that match my style for a much cheaper price. Also they’re more unique. This was a great post! Eco fashion week sounds really interesting.
