If you’re planning a unicorn birthday party for your little one, you’re in the right place! We always let Olivia choose her own birthday theme, and for her fourth, she didn’t hesitate — unicorns all the way! Because honestly, what four-year-old doesn’t love a little magic and sparkle? From whimsical pastel balloon arches to a kids’ glittery tablescape, her unicorn birthday party was packed with magic, smiles, and sparkles!

🎈 A Dreamy Backdrop for a Unicorn Birthday Party
Our setup started with a gorgeous pastel backdrop by the talented Events by Juna. She framed the space with huge pastel balloon garlands in soft rainbow hues, accented by the cutest rainbow-shaped balloons. To make the moment extra special, she added a custom vinyl decal that read “Four-ever Magical” — a sweet nod to Olivia turning four. It created the perfect focal point for photos and cake-cutting!

🍽 Magical Unicorn Tablescape for the Kids
The kids’ table was one of my favorite parts to design! I covered the kids tables in an iridescent tablecloth that shimmered in the light and layered on the pastel paper plates and the sweetest unicorn-shaped napkins. Tiny pink bud vases filled with soft florals added a pop of color without being too fussy. Everything felt playful, sparkly, and perfectly in line with the unicorn birthday party theme!

🍰 Two-Tiered Unicorn Cake
No unicorn birthday party is complete without a beautiful, themed cake, and ours definitely delivered —eventually! We went with a two-tier design topped with pastel piped rosettes and a pink iridescent unicorn horn (here is the exact unicorn cake topper). But here’s the wild part: during pickup, my brother accidentally mishandled the box and the entire top tier collapsed. Total cake disaster! Thankfully, the amazing team at Town & Country came to the rescue and worked their magic to fix it just in time. We were so impressed — and beyond grateful!

🪅 DIY Unicorn Piñata
One of the kids’ favorite moments was breaking open my DIY unicorn piñata I made from cardboard and crepe paper. I shaped it like a classic unicorn — complete with rainbow mane and golden horn — and filled it with candy. It was surprisingly very sturdy! Not only was it a fun craft project to put together ahead of the party, but all the parents loved watching their kids powerfully take their swings!

🍬 Cotton Candy Station
To add a little extra magic, we set up a cotton candy station where guests could spin their own fluffy treats. It was such a hit with both the kids and grown-ups! I borrowed this cotton candy machine from my cousin and we offered pastel sugar flavors in pink strawberry and blue raspberry. I also made an acrylic sign for the station that said “unicorn fluff.” It added that perfect carnival-style charm to our unicorn birthday party.

🎨 Unicorn Face Painting
We also hired a professional face painter which is always a crowd favorite! The kids lined up excitedly for glittery unicorn designs and other custom creations like butterflies or dinosaurs. It brought so much color and joy to the day and looked amazing in all the photos!

🎉 Unicorn Party Activities for Kids
The highlight of the party fun was our white bounce house, which has been the best investment! Events By Juna decorated it with rainbow tassels and a whimsical pastel balloon garland to match the main decor. My husband and I also did the decal ourselves using smart removable vinyl so that it’s easy to peel off afterwards. The bounce house was perfect for the kids to burn off their cotton candy energy and stay entertained for hours.

🎁 Unicorn-Themed Party Favors
We loved putting together simple but adorable party favors for the kids. Each child went home with a favor box filled with unicorn bubble wands, sparkly play dough, unicorn sticker sheets, bath bombs with unicorn toy inside and mythical creature cookies. These favors were a sweet way to end the party on a high note!

Final Thoughts on Hosting a Unicorn Birthday Party
Olivia’s 4th unicorn birthday party was a dream come true, and honestly, so fun to put together. We DIY’d everything except for the backdrop and balloons. With lots of DIY touches, a little glitter, and some creative stations, you can definitely recreate this magical vibe. Whether you’re going big or keeping things simple, this theme is perfect for little kids who believe in a bit of magic.
