Happy first day of spring ladies and (the few) gents! I can’t think of any better way to celebrate the start of this colorful season than with a vibrant yellow skirt outfit! If you’re not sure if this beautiful color is for you, here are my tips for how to wear yellow for your skin tone!
Before this year, I rarely ever wore yellow. I always thought that yellow wouldn’t look good on me because it would wash me out. But now I think anyone can look good in yellow – the trick is to finding the right shade for your skin tone!
Here are my tips for how to wear yellow for your skin tone using this skin tone chart:
- Light to fair skin tone: Mustard and dark yellows will complement your skin tone the best. Pastel yellow can work on you as well but always make sure it doesn’t wash you out. Check out these cute pastel yellow, bold yellow, and dark yellow outfits. I fall into this category and am wearing a mustard yellow skirt.
- Medium to olive skin tone: Stick to bright and vibrant yellows as these will make you glow! Here are examples of a bright yellow outfit and a vibrant yellow outfit.
- Tan to dark skin tone: Most shades of yellow color will look amazing on you! Here are a couple of yellow outfit inspirations for darker skin tones: yellow trench coat and neon yellow skirt.
The great thing about yellow is that it pairs well with other fun colors like blue, orange, pink, and purple. The contrast will make such a stunning statement! You can always play it safe as well by wearing it with black or white like I did here. I hope these tips were helpful cause I wouldn’t want you to miss out on wearing this fresh and happy color!

I couldn’t agree more, girl, yellow can look great on everyone, it’s all a matter of knowing which shades are the most flattering for your skin tone, as you’ve shared here! I love that mustard yellow skirt on you and how you’ve styled it with the gorgeous crochet top, so beautiful for spring, especially since yellow is trending so much this season! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!

That pretty white Chicwish Echo of Exquisiteness Crochet Top and Uniqlo Mustard Yellow Dry Stretch Tucked A-Line Skirt look great styled together, and you look fabulous wearing them. I’m sure you will always look beautiful regardless of what shade of yellow couture you choose to wear!
Haha, well good to know I’ve been doing it right! I have a pale skin tone, and I always do mustards. It’s the only yellow that actually looks good! Loving this skirt on you, and the location is perfect too. 🙂

I also started to wear yellow only recently. I’ve worn it before, ofc, but it’s in recent months that I’ve worn it as any other color. Love yellow now though, such a popping and energizing color. And I adore your skirt, so so pretty! Xx

Yaas! I love the example of the yellow trench for black skin tones. I don’t wear a lot of yellow but I know that it suits me because I have a warm undertone.
The yellow skirt you’re wearing definitely does suit you.

I feel like this post is so appropriate because I was just having this conversation with my sister the other day. I’m pale and also have a slightly yellow undertone and it’s quite difficult to pull off the color. But it really comes down to finding a shade that works for you, like you’ve obviously pointed out. Speaking of which, that skirt looks absolutely fabulous on you! I also love the gorgeous detail on that top. Have a great week, Tina!

Great tips – I usually stay away from yellow too (I’m also Asian) but I think I’ll give it a try this year. I LOVE your skirt!
I know exactly what you mean about yellow. I used to feel the same way about browns and nudes. I always thought they would wash me out because of my skin. But you’re so right, it’s all about finding the right shades to compliment your skin tone. I just love this yellow skirt on you and it pairs so well with your lace top. And how fun are the sleeves?! Beautiful look Tina! Hope you’re having a great start to the week 🙂

I love yellow but it can be really tricky finding the right hue. I’ve always found mustard tones to be really complimentary so anything other than this tone I tend to shy away from. I do love the colour of your skirt though. It looks utterly fabulous. Also, this location is just stunning

Yellow isn’t a common item in my wardrobe collection, one, because yes I do like bright colours but just not all of them. Two, I never knew which shade would compliment my skin. But now that I’ve read this, it gives me a clearer idea of what bright colours I should wear in contrast to darker shades.
Stunning photography.

I can’t usually wear yellow with my skin tone, but wearing the color as a skirt would certainly work. I love white tops and always love outfits with yellow pieces, so I love this look!
