It’s been a while since I’ve given a pregnancy update on here so here’s a recap of how my second trimester went! I’m also sharing the baby’s gender in case you missed the announcement on Instagram!
Anatomy Scan + Gender Reveal
The highlight of my second trimester pregnancy was definitely the anatomy scan and sharing the gender of baby with everyone! It was so cool to see baby coming to life and transforming from a fetus to looking like a baby now. All of her features are becoming more prominent!
And yes, baby is a GIRL! I shared some old wives tales here. It was split 50/50 but I had a feeling she was a girl with my severe morning sickness! Jeff and both of our families are extremely excited to welcome a girl in the family. Most of my extended family are guys, except for my cousin’s new baby girl. We are hoping our girls will be best friends just like we are!
How I’m Feeling
ENERGY. As you read in my pregnancy announcement, I had terrible morning sickness in the first trimester. I was bedridden and was very useless. But second trimester was amazing and I had a HUGE burst of energy! I felt like I accomplished a lot during this time with cleaning and organizing like crazy, lots of DIY projects, and starting on the nursery. Is this what they call nesting?
BABY MOVEMENTS. Another highlight of second trimester is feeling baby girl’s kicks and movements! I started feeling her around 22 weeks and she’s been non-stop since lol. She is especially active at night when I’m just relaxing and watching TV. Jeff has seen and felt her movements too, and he always gets giddy about it. He’s going to be the sweetest girl dad!
SYMPTOMS. As I’m getting bigger, it’s getting more uncomfortable. I have lower back pain, I walk slower, and sometimes it’s hard to breath. My mom and I both have always had Charlie horses, but it’s been worse with pregnancy. I wake up in the middle of the night, screaming with the worst calf pain.
Pregnancy During COVID-19
QUARANTINE. Being pregnant during a pandemic has been an interesting experience to say the least. Because I didn’t want to risk getting coronavirus while pregnant, I took quarantine very seriously. During my first and second trimesters, the only places I went to were the doctor’s office and the car dealership once to buy a car (we upgraded to a SUV for baby!). Otherwise, I sent Jeff to get all of our groceries and didn’t see my friends or family (except for a few social distancing drop-offs) for months.
APPOINTMENTS. One disappointing part about being pregnant during this time is that you can’t have your partner go into doctor’s appointments and scans with you. I really wish Jeff could’ve been at the anatomy scan, especially since this is our first baby. At least we were able to Facetime at the end of the appointment and Jeff was able to see some of the scans that way. Also, most of my appointments were phone calls, so I didn’t actually get to meet my OBGYN in person until week 29 when I went in for my glucose test.
BABY MOON. Because of COVID, we won’t be able to go on our honeymoon or baby moon. We were originally planning for Italy for our honeymoon and Hawaii for baby moon. But of course, with everything going on, we paused all travel plans. We might do a quick road trip somewhere in the PNW as things start to open up again!
WFH. The silver lining of being pregnant during COVID is that I get to work from home until I go on maternity leave. It’s been sooo much more comfortable being at home and not having to commute on the bus!
Overall, despite not having a “normal” second trimester pregnancy experience, I am very thankful to be pregnant and still can’t believe I’m bringing a human into this world soon!
Maternity Clothes
I have been living in dresses during my pregnancy and the same five dresses have been on heavy rotation. A few of my non-maternity dresses still fit so I wear these all the time (here, here, and here). I did buy my first couple of maternity dresses towards the middle of my second trimester. This pink striped maternity dress is my absolute favorite and I always get compliments on it when I wear it to the doctor’s office!
Nursery Updates
It’s been so fun putting together baby girl’s nursery! Here are a couple photos of what we have in there so far. I LOVE the nursery wallpaper. I still need a dresser, pendant light, and a few other things. Can’t wait to show you guys the final look once it’s done!
I’m now in the home stretch and officially in the third trimester! I’ll keep you guys updated on how it goes. I’m looking forward to potentially a maternity photo shoot, a baby shower (if we decide to have one), and a quick baby moon getaway!

Awww congratulations Tina! I’m not sure if I saw the announcement post, so wanted to share my congratulations here too, just in case. 🙂
What amazing news! I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes well for you until you are able to welcome your baby girl into the world, and hopefully by the time that comes around, covid-19 will have died down a lot more.
All the best!

I am so glad that your morning sickness has subsided. I never had it but I knew of friends that did and it just sounded horrible. So yay for the burst of energy and nesting! I can’t wait to meet your little princess Tina. So excited for you and Jeff!
